Enter Zora Bennett (Scarlett Johansson), a covert operative hired by the biotech giant ParkerGenix to retrieve biomaterials from the three largest remaining prehistoric species: one from land, one from sea, and one from the air. The goal? To develop a revolutionary drug that could combat deadly human diseases—particularly heart conditions, inspired by research into dinosaur DNA longevity.
Zora is joined by Dr. Henry Loomis (Jonathan Bailey), a brilliant paleontologist, and Duncan Kincaid (Mahershala Ali), the team leader. Their expedition soon collides with a shipwrecked civilian family, including Reuben Delgado(Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) and his two daughters. Together, they encounter unimaginable danger from mutated dinosaur hybrids left to evolve unchecked for decades.
The island’s apex predator, the Distortus rex, is a horrifying six-limbed mutation of the classic T. rex—grotesque, powerful, and surprisingly tragic. This monster isn’t just hunting—they’re all trapped in its domain.

Terrifying New Creatures and Returning Dinosaurs

Distortus rex
A horrifying mutation of the T. rex with six limbs, gorilla-like arms, and a misshapen skull. Designed to elicit fear and sympathy, it’s one of the franchise’s most complex monsters yet.
Mutadons
Hybrids between pterosaurs and Velociraptors. These flying predators are fast, silent, and deadly, swarming their prey like a flock of nightmares.
Spinosaurus (Reimagined)
Back from Jurassic Park III, the Spinosaurus has been redesigned to reflect real paleontological findings, featuring webbed feet, a broader tail, and powerful aquatic movement.
Aquilops
A small herbivore brought to life with cutting-edge animatronics. Its expressive features allow for emotional interaction with human characters.
Other featured dinosaurs include Titanosaurus, Diabloceratops, Mosasaurus, Dilophosaurus, Anurognathus, Velociraptors, Carnotaurus, and Compsognathus.
Filming and Production
Principal photography began in June 2024 across various exotic locations:
- Thailand: Jungle and coastal scenes shot in Krabi, Ko Kradan, and Ao Phang Nga National Park
- Malta: Ocean battle scenes involving the Mosasaurus
- UK: Studio work at Sky Studios Elstree, including interior sets and tunnel networks
Director Gareth Edwards chose to shoot on 35mm film to match the visual tone of the original Jurassic Park. ILM handled the visual effects while practical animatronics were built by John Nolan.
Edwards personally redesigned several sequences, including relocating a Quetzalcoatlus nest scene to an ancient temple. A dramatic T. rex river chase scene was adapted directly from Michael Crichton’s original novel.
Music: A New Soundtrack for a New Era
Award-winning composer Alexandre Desplat created a powerful, orchestral score recorded at Abbey Road Studioswith a 105-piece orchestra and 60-person choir. The music pays tribute to John Williams’ original themes while introducing fresh, suspenseful motifs.
Marketing Campaign: A Global Blockbuster in the Making
Universal kicked off the marketing blitz in August 2024 by revealing the title and first-look images. Trailers were released in February and May 2025, with the Super Bowl spot drawing huge online attention.
