Five Gen Z Founders, One Big Vision: How NutzyCraft Is Building a Digital Home for Sri Lankan Creators

NutzyCraft emerges at a time when Sri Lanka is home to a growing community of talented designers, developers, editors, marketers, and digital creators, yet many freelancers still struggle to find the systems, tools, and networks needed to compete globally.

For five university students, this gap sparked an idea that would soon evolve into a startup.

NutzyCraft, a Creative-Tech platform built by a group of Gen Z founders, aims to create a digital ecosystem designed specifically for Sri Lankan creators and freelancers. Built between lectures, coding labs, and late-night brainstorming sessions, the platform reflects a new generation of entrepreneurs who are blending creativity with technology to reshape the country’s digital future.

In this conversation with YoungThare, the founders of NutzyCraft share their journey, their vision for the freelance economy, and their message to young innovators across Sri Lanka.

“Don’t underestimate what a group of determined students can build together.”

Q1: Who Are the Founders Behind NutzyCraft?

In the middle of university life; between lectures, coding labs, and late-night brainstorming sessions  five students began asking a simple but powerful question:

Why does Sri Lanka have world-class digital talent but no platform built specifically for them?

That question sparked the creation of NutzyCraft, a Creative-Tech startup founded by Sanith Wijesinghe, Sayura Thejan, Soesh Cooray, Kenula De Silva, and Ulindu Vibodha.

What began as a conversation among friends quickly evolved into a mission: to build the first comprehensive digital ecosystem dedicated to Sri Lankan freelancers and creators.

Unlike traditional startups built in corporate incubators, NutzyCraft emerged directly from the energy, curiosity, and ambition of Gen Z founders determined to reshape their country’s digital economy.

Q2: What Is the Vision Behind NutzyCraft and How Do the Founders Work Together?

NutzyCraft is not the story of a single founder,  it is the story of five co-founders building something bigger than themselves.

Each founder brings a unique strength to the team:

  • Ulindu Vibodha – Strategic vision and innovation
  • Sayura Thejan – Product development and digital systems
  • Soesh Cooray – Creative direction and brand identity
  • Kenula De Silva – Community growth and operations
  • Sanith Wijesinghe – Technical architecture and platform engineering

With Ulindu Vibodha serving as the CTO of IdeaTech PVT LTD, the team brings a heavy-hitting technical background to the creative world.

Together, they represent a new generation of Sri Lankan builders who combine creativity with deep technological thinking.

Their collaboration goes beyond friendship,  it is a carefully balanced partnership where technology, creativity, and strategy work together as one system.

The founders believe that great companies are not built by individuals but by teams that challenge, support, and push each other forward. NutzyCraft is the result of that belief.

Q3: What Problem Is NutzyCraft Trying to Solve for Sri Lankan Creators?

Sri Lanka is home to thousands of talented designers, developers, editors, marketers, and digital creators. Yet many of them face the same challenge!

They work in isolation. Without a unified ecosystem, freelancers often struggle with:

– Finding global clients

– Building professional workflows

– Scaling their services

– Accessing advanced tools and infrastructure

While international platforms exist, they rarely understand the unique needs and opportunities of Sri Lankan creators.

The NutzyCraft founders saw this gap clearly. Instead of waiting for someone else to solve the problem, they decided to build the solution themselves.

“Great companies are not built by individuals but by teams that challenge, support, and push each other forward.”

Q4: How Did NutzyCraft Evolve from a University Idea into a Startup Vision?

The founders turned their university environment into a startup laboratory.

Classrooms became brainstorming hubs.. Dorm rooms became strategy rooms.. Late-night study sessions turned into product design meetings..

Rather than treating their education and startup separately, the founders blended both worlds.

They approached NutzyCraft like an engineering challenge, designing systems, building digital frameworks, and creating a platform capable of supporting a new freelance economy.

One of their major innovations was PilotAI, a system designed to help creators streamline workflows, manage projects, and enhance productivity through intelligent tools.

This combination of technology and creativity became the foundation of NutzyCraft’s identity.

Q5: What Challenges Do Gen Z Founders Face When Building a Startup While Studying?

Building a startup is hard. Building a startup while still being university students is even harder.

Every day, the founders navigate two demanding worlds.

  • By morning, they are students managing assignments, lectures, and exams.
  • By night, they are entrepreneurs building technology, developing platforms, and growing a startup community.

The schedule is intense!

But the founders believe that this dual life gives them a unique advantage.

They are building NutzyCraft inside the same generation they aim to empower.

Their understanding of digital culture, creator communities, and emerging technology allows them to design solutions that feel natural for modern freelancers.

Q6: How Does NutzyCraft Combine Technology and Creativity?

NutzyCraft describes itself as a Creative-Tech platform. This means creativity is not separated from technology,  it is amplified by it.

The founders believe that many freelancers lose time dealing with operational tasks like: Project management, Client communication, Workflow organization & Administrative processes

NutzyCraft’s goal is to automate these complexities.

By building intelligent systems and tools, the platform allows creators to focus on what they do best: creating, innovating, and delivering world-class digital work.

This philosophy,  which the founders call Systemic Creativity combines design thinking, engineering, and AI-driven efficiency.

Q7: What Is NutzyCraft’s Message to the Next Generation of Entrepreneurs?

For the founders, NutzyCraft is not just another startup. It represents a larger mission: to build the digital backbone of Sri Lanka’s freelance economy.

In the coming years, the platform aims to evolve into a complete ecosystem that supports creators with:

– Intelligent tools

– Professional workflows

– Global client access

– Community collaboration

– Technical infrastructure

The long-term vision is simple but ambitious: to  ensure that every Sri Lankan creator has the tools, systems, and support needed to compete globally. The founders believe that waiting for the perfect moment is the biggest mistake young entrepreneurs make. University years are often seen as preparation for the real world.

But these founders see them differently. They believe university is the best possible time to experiment, build, and take risks. Their message to young creators and freelancers across Sri Lanka is simple:

  • Start now.
  • Build with friends who share your vision.
  • Create solutions that your community truly needs.

And most importantly, don’t underestimate what a group of determined students can build together.

For the founders, entrepreneurship is not just about launching a company. It is about taking responsibility for shaping the future of your industry and your country.

In many ways, NutzyCraft is like a final-year project that never ends.

But instead of grades, the founders measure success by something much bigger: how many creators they empower.

As Gen Z founders, they are not waiting for an invitation to join the global digital economy. They are building a platform that ensures Sri Lankan talent has a seat at the table  and the tools to lead!
