In a dramatic post-race twist, both McLaren drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri have been disqualified after failing post-race inspection. The FIA confirmed that the rear skid wear on both MCL39 cars was below the minimum 9mm thickness, leading to their removal from the final results.
Las Vegas GP Results Overturned
Originally, Norris finished P2 and Piastri P4, but with both disqualified, the podium reshuffles:
- Max Verstappen retains his win and now sits level on points with Piastri (366).
- George Russell inherits P2, and
- Kimi Antonelli moves up to P3, marking another career-best for the Mercedes rookie.
Lando Norris, despite the DSQ, remains championship leader with 390 points, but the gap has narrowed dangerously. With just two rounds left Qatar and Abu Dhabi the title fight is officially a three-way war.
Title Battle: Norris vs Piastri vs Verstappen
The Las Vegas GP was already tense. Norris had taken pole in wet conditions, Verstappen battled through a tricky strategy, and Piastri looked set to close the gap. But the disqualification changes everything.
